Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) work with families to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults. West Side Speech Academy believes that effective communication is fundamental to all aspects of human functioning.

Our Story

West Side Speech Academy has over 30 years of experience with providing support and family services in the areas of Speech Language Pathology. We are skilled and knowledgeable. Our focus is on identification and treatment of individuals of all ages. Our services are family centered and culturally and linguistically responsive. Services are comprehensive; coordinated and team based. All services are based on the highest quality evidence that is available.

Robin Billmaier MA,CCC-SLP

Robin is the owner of West Side Speech Academy, LLC.  Robin has been a Speech-Language Pathologist since 1996. Her clinical experience includes: Pediatric, School based, Home Health, Skilled Nursing and Outpatient Rehabilitation Clinics. She works with both children and adults. Robin’s areas of expertise include: Articulation, Language Disorders, Voice, Fluency, Cognition, Dysphagia/Feeding, The SOS Feeding Program and Stroke Rehabilitation. Robin holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech Language and Hearing Association and has served as a board member of the New Mexico Chapter. She is an active member of NMSHA. She received the Honors of the Association for her work with the New Mexico Speech Language Hearing Association. Robin is enthusiastic, committed and sensitive to the needs of her clients and their families. She regularly attends continuing education to provide the most current approaches and serves as a facilitator to community providers. She is an expert in telehealth and works with individuals throughout the State of New Mexico.

Vanessa Smith MS, CCC-SLP

Vanessa graduated Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) with her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Her clinical experiences include: Early Intervention, Pediatric Outpatient, Fluency, Voice, Cognitive Rehabilitation, AAC, and Preschool to School-Age children. She has worked with both children and adults with a wide range of abilities and cultural backgrounds. Vanessa's areas of expertise include: Speech Sound Disorders, Fluency, Cognition and caregiver education/training. Tele practice, Articulation Disorder, Social Skills, Expressive Communication and Accent Modification. She is a member of the  American Speech Language and Hearing Association and the New Mexico Speech-Language Association. Vanessa regularly attends continuing education courses to provide current therapy approaches.  She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech Language and Hearing Association. Vanessa works with all team members as a mentor. Vanessa is very skilled with clients and using telehealth for accomplishing goals.

Therese Lopez MA,CCC-SLP

Therese is a Speech Language Pathologist with West Side Speech Academy, LLC and at Rio Rancho Schools.  She is a native of NM and graduated with her Masters degree from New Mexico State University. Therese holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech Language & Hearing Association the New Mexico Speech Language & Hearing Association, She has worked with adults, school age, and pediatrics. Her clinical experience includes working in long term care, public schools, outpatient setting, and rehab settings. Therese is an advocate for children and adults. Areas of expertise include Speech Sound Disorders, Language Disorders, Feeding/Swallowing Deficits, AAC, Voice and supervision. She is able to implement individual treatment plans based on skilled evaluations. She actively participates in continuing education courses. Therese works well with clients in person and with telehealth. She is a member of NMSHA.

Patricia Beckett MS,CCC-SLP

Patricia holds a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics from the University of Illinois. Master's Degree in Communication Disorders from Illinois State University. Her experience includes: early intervention, school age children, and adults. She is an expert in phonological, articulation, language, fluency and voice disorders. Patricia is also interested in language and literacy difficulties. She is an expert in social and functional communication. She is Hanen certified in It Takes Two to Talk. She is a member of the New Mexico Speech Language Hearing Association. She holds a Clinical Certificate of Competence through the American Speech Language Hearing Association.

Julie Kump, SLP-A

Julie is a Speech Language Pathology-Apprentice with WSSA. She received her undergraduate degree from Eastern New Mexico University. She is currently working on her Master's Degree in Communication Disorders through Baylor University. Her background includes working with children birth to five. She has also worked with children school age children, kindergarten to 5th grade. Julie is always smiling and keeps a smile on everyone's face. She is a member of the New Mexico Speech-Language Association. She has experience with telehealth.

Davon Guerrero, SLP-A

Davon is a Speech Language Pathology-Apprentice at WSSA. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology, and in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of New Mexico. She is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Commination Disorders from Eastern New Mexico University. She has experience with fluency, articulation, language disorders. She has worked with birth to 5 children as well as school age children. She has experience with telehealth and our speech language platform at WSSA. Davon enjoys hiking, running and sports of all types. She is a member of the New Mexico Speech- Language Association.

Alyssa Martinez, SLP-A

Alyssa is a Speech Language Pathology-Apprentice at WSSA. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Disorders from Eastern New Mexico University. She is currently attending Northern Arizona University where she is pursuing a Master's Degree in Communication Disorders. She has experience in early intervention, pediatric outpatient, fluency, AAC, preschool, school age, children telehealth. Her expertise includes: speech sound disorders, fluency and language disorders. Alyssa is a member of the New Mexico Speech-Language Association. Alyssa has a strong background with telehealth.

Alice "Alli" Burrows

Alli is a Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) she has a degree in Health Information Technology from Carrington College. She is currently working on her Health Information Management Degree. She is a member of the Nation Health Career Association. She has a background in working with children in Special Education Programs. She is also a member of the American Health Information Management Association. Alli is our admin professional for WSSA.  Alli is our organizing and retention expert.

Antonia Borjas

Antonia works in our front office at WSSA. She has 25 years of costumer service. She has 7 years of experience working in inpatient and outpatient hospital clinics. She has been a Patient Account Access Representative. She has a Clinical Certification for Medical Assistants through NHA. She has worked as a Special Education Assistant and nurse assistant for APS. Antonia holds a Bachelor's Degree in Justice Administration from Brookline College. She is also a Qualified Interpreter through from Valley Community Interpreting. Antonia is a devoted mother and wife. She enjoys all of her fur babies too.

Brady Goldsberry

Brady makes his home in Albuquerque. He is a student at CNM. Brady has many talents. He is certified in unmanned aerial systems. He helps keep the WSSA front offices organized. Brady is also working on his pilot's license. Brady keeps busy outside of work with his family and dogs.
